The History
The Lego Group began in the workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen , a carpenter from Billund, Denmark, who began making wooden toys in 1932. In 1934, his company came to be called "Lego", derived from the Danish phrase leg godt, which means "play well". In 1947, Lego expanded to begin producing plastic toys.
The block was a very complex structure and gave this industry great profit. They had seen a machine in an exhibition about plastic moulds. Then they began selling ready made plastic toys. But the company had other plans.....
Soon they realised that the ready made toys weren't
giving the children the power to think and create things on their own they were just dependant on the company for ready made toys. Thus the company decided of getting the brick in association with building and creativity.
The block was a very big deal for the future of this company. The company only made profits in summer so the owner of the company set out selling them on his own. All the children loved the concept of building new things. But the company faced a problem when they realised the bricks weren't able to hold together and fell on moving. They realised that the block had good clutch power so they could hold back together instead of falling. The company went through 3 miserable factory fires and stood up again on its legs. it has since then encouraged the children of all generations of making anything they want from the smallest insect to the larfest car fro lego.
